'Hindrances in transit trade to be considered’

PESHAWAR: Afghan Consul General Haji Abdul Khaliq Farahi assured local and Afghan traders dealing in transit trade that their suggestions on removing hindrances in transportation of goods from Pakistan to Afghanistan would be given due consideration.
He was talking to a joint delegation of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Afghan traders dealing in Afghan Transit Trade. It was led by Executive Member SCCI, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi and Chairman Standing Committee of SCCI on Pak-Afghan Trade, Abdul Hameed Gurwara.
They spoke of problems faced by businessmen in transit trade and difficulties due to transportation of transit goods on NLC trucks instead of railway trains, clearance of goods at NLC warehouse.
They drew the attention of Afghan Consul General on problems due to shifting of Afghan Trade Minister from Peshawar to Torkhem and issuance of documents by unregistered dealers instead of registered border agents.
Afghan Traders demanded clearance of transit trade goods at Railway Station Peshawar Cantt as clearance in Jamrud is risky from security point of view.
Afghan Consul General said he would hold talks with concerned departments in Afghanistan and Pakistan to resolve problems. ppi
