Five of a family among 10 killed in road accidents

JACOBABAD: Ten persons, five of them of a family, were killed in two road accidents in Shikarpur and Shahdadkot districts in the past 36 hours.
Five members of a family, including two women, were killed in a road accident at the Raheemabad crossing in the Khanpur police limits in Shikarpur on Tuesday.
Talking to The News, police said a speeding bus, heading towards Karachi from Peshawar, collided head-on with a car while overtaking a truck, killing Mohammad Khan Panhyar, his brother Saifullah, wife Nusrat, sister Noor Begum and son Muneer on the spot and injuring 15 others.
After the accident, the police and villagers reached the scene and shifted the bodies and the injured to the Taluka Hospital Khanpur and the Civil Hospital Shikarpur.
The police arrested the bus driver and impounded the vehicle.
In a separate incident, which occurred late on Monday night, five persons, including four children, were killed in a road accident on a Shahdadkot-Ratodero road near Sajjan Joyo village.
Reports said some persons were on their way to Ratodero in a motorcycle rickshaw when a speeding trailer hit the rickshaw, killing four persons, including three children, on the spot.
The dead were identified as Sapna, Ali Hassan, Abdul Aziz Lolai and Abdul Qayoom Abro. The injured, Rabia and Bashir Ahmed Joyo, were admitted to a Larkana hospital, where Rabia died while being treated.
Police arrested driver Ghulam Abbas Shaikh and impounded the vehicle.
